Job Overview
The Associate Minister to Young Adults provides pastoral leadership, spiritual formation, and relational discipleship for adults ages 18–35. This role emphasizes cultivating a vibrant network of Christ-centered small groups, fostering spiritual growth, and helping young adults deepen their connection to Christ, the church, and one another. The Associate Minister will also assist in preaching, teaching, and providing pastoral care within a Wesleyan theological framework.

Primary Responsibilities
1. Small Group Formation & Discipleship (Primary Focus)
- Develop and oversee a comprehensive small-group strategy for young adults, including recruitment, training, and ongoing support of group leaders.
- Create pathways for new young adults to find connection, belonging, and discipleship through small groups.
- Provide regular coaching, resourcing, and encouragement to leaders to ensure healthy, multiplying groups.
- Develop or curate biblically solid, Wesleyan-aligned discipleship materials.
- Plan and facilitate periodic gatherings, retreats, or events that strengthen community life and faith formation.
2. Teaching & Preaching
- Preach periodically in Sunday worship or other services as assigned.
- Teach classes, Bible studies, or formation workshops for young adults.
- Assist in development of curriculum, studies, or discipleship resources.
- Communicate biblical truth in a way that is faithful, winsome, and culturally resonant for young adults.
3. Pastoral Care
- Provide pastoral presence and relational support to young adults, including visitation, listening, prayer, and encouragement.
- Offer guidance in seasons of life transition, spiritual questioning, or personal crisis.
- Assist with weddings, funerals, and other pastoral duties as needed.
- Partner with the Senior Pastor and pastoral staff to ensure young adults are spiritually supported and connected across the church.
4. Leadership, Administration & Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with pastoral, worship, and administrative staff in planning ministry initiatives.
- Attend staff meetings, church events, and strategic planning sessions.
- Maintain clear communication with volunteers, parents (when appropriate), and other ministry areas.
- Support the mission, vision, and values of the church as articulated by the Senior Pastor and leadership team.
Required Qualifications
- Master of Divinity (MDiv), Master of Theology (ThM), or currently enrolled in an accredited seminary program working toward one of these degrees from a Wesleyan seminary.
- Minimum of 2 years ministry experience, preferably in young adult, discipleship, or small-group ministry.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with young adults and lead them spiritually.
- Strong communication skills in teaching, preaching, and interpersonal settings.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff teams and volunteer leaders.
- A growing, vibrant personal faith in Jesus Christ and commitment to spiritual disciplines, integrity, and humility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience creating or leading disciple-making systems.
- Background in Wesleyan or Methodist traditions.
- Experience with event planning, retreats, or multi-week studies.
- Ability to utilize digital tools and social media to strengthen ministry communication.
Personal & Spiritual Expectations
- Lives a life consistent with the teachings of Jesus and the witness of Scripture.
- Practices rhythms of prayer, worship, stewardship, and Sabbath.
- Exhibits a teachable spirit and a heart for serving others.
- Models healthy relational boundaries and emotional maturity.
